Singer and songwriter Mon Laferte presents her new single “Esto Es Amor” in collaboration with Argentine musician Conociendo Rusia (Mateo Sujatovich), one of the most prominent names of the new generation of Argentine song. It is a song built on a soul base with an elegant production, framed within alternative pop.
Recorded and produced by Mon Laferte and Manu Jalil, the sound refers to references such as Roberta Flack and Bill Withers, with a focus on the body language of groove, with an aesthetic that prioritizes the analog.
The saxophone, as a sound resource, stands out for its exotic timbre and works as a physical counterpoint to the sexuality of Laferte’s sharp pen in the lyrics, which address desire from an explicit and contemporary point of view.
“Baby, eating your lips is religion. Between your legs I’m going to pray.”
The music video that accompanies the release, directed by Chilean filmmaker Camila Grandi and produced by the Buena Noche collective, is set in a nineties office. The visual aesthetic complements the sound of the track with clear references to cinema and pop culture with a strong erotic charge. It is a video that is inspired by the language of vintage soft porn, its aesthetics, tension and symbolism that invites us to fantasize.
