Wednesday 1/10 5pm | Teen Paint and Party with U.A.N.C.T.C.
Unique Artwork Community Training Center will host a Paint and Party for the Youth of the South Shore area at The South Shore Cultural Center. We will provide each student with their own canvas’ and artists will assist them with using paint and brushes to paint their canvas. Pizza and drinks are provided. Participants will be entered into a raffle to win gift bags, in addition to prizes for the best paintings with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. THIS EVENT IS FOR TEENS ONLY. Thursday 1/11 5:30pm | Movie Night: Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project [Screening + Discussion]
This award-winning documentary by directors Joe Brewster & Michèle Stephenson travels through time and space to reveal the enduring influence of Nikki Giovanni, one of America’s greatest living artists and social commentators. Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project reckons with the inevitable passing of time through a collision of memories, moments in American history, live readings, and visually innovative treatments of Giovanni’s poetry. Hosted by Sisters in Cinema, Mezcla Media Collective, and the Chicago Park District, this event is free. It will feature refreshments by Fanfares Catering and a guest panel discussion. Friday 1/12 6pm | ETA presents: A Journey Through Music [a live musical tribute]
ETA presents an evening of musical tributes and celebrity impersonators, performing legendary hip-hop, soul, and R&B hits. Come sing along with some of the greatest artists of all time!
