Montreal soul singer Wayne Tennant collaborates with rapper Louwop & releases a relevant and uplifting single titled “Pride Before the Fall”
Montreal, QC R&B/Soul singer Wayne Tennant has been on the local and international scene for quite some time now and you might realize that you’ve heard him due to his distinctive tone. The singer recently performed live with Montreal indie-band Busty & the Bass as part of their residency concert at the Drake in Toronto in early 2023 and also opened up for Iggy Pop.
Wayne Tennant is kicking off the new year with a contemplative and heartfelt composition titled “Pride Before the Fall.” Collaborating with longtime associate Louwop, with whom he shared a history dating back to their time together in the Juno Award-nominated band God Made Me Funky in the early 2000s.
The single exudes a conscious, pensive, rhythmic, and uplifting vibe, resonating with today’s global state. Wayne Tennant, an R&B/Soul Singer-Songwriter and Producer based in Montreal, Canada, draws inspiration from icons like Prince, Babyface, and Stevie Wonder. His genre-bending music blends funk, electronica, and retro sub-genres, creating a unique brand of alternative R&B.
In 2015, Tennant released his debut album “Life in Minor Key,” and the video for his single “Crash” was featured on Canada’s national news (CBC News). He earned a nomination for “Anglophone Artist of the Year” at the inaugural Gala Dynasty Awards in 2017.
Recently, Tennant participated in Canadian indie-pop singer Charlotte Cardin’s virtual showcase, “The Phoenix Experience” (2021), serving as part of her choir. Additionally, he collaborated with Canadian pop singer Jonathan Roy, appearing and singing in the acoustic music video for the single “Lost.”
