With their newest release, the Grammy (2023) nominated band offers a fresh and stirring take on José José’s classic hit, captured live during their bohemian nights in Mexico.
Renowned for their innovative blend of genres such as bolero, mariachi, cumbia, and indie folk, today the award-winning Mexican-American quartet La Santa Cecilia continues to reveal the pure magic that was captured during their bohemian nights at La Finca Altozano with their latest breathtaking release, “Almohada,” the first single from the upcoming second half of their album “Cuatro Copas: Bohemia En La Finca Altozano.”
Written by Adán Torres, and made famous by the legendary José José, “Almohada” is a bittersweet song filled with nostalgia, speaking to the yearning we feel when we miss someone important to us, whether they are no longer with us in body or whether we are separated from them due to distance. When we are lucky enough to be able to visit these people in our dreams, the experience brings on a wave of powerful emotions, ranging from joy and comfort upon seeing them to sadness and heartbreak when we wake up and realize we were only dreaming.
About the song La Marisoul says, “José José is an artist that we admire a lot, and it’s a song that reminds me a lot of my dad. The song connects me a lot to him because I’m his fan. We learned a lot with this song; we always wanted to interpret it and record it because it speaks of a longing, a desire for someone. Many times, in dreams, we can fulfill that desire of being close to that loved one and we are disappointed when we wake up because we are only sleeping on the pillow. This song is a jewel and a gift for you so that people in love or those who long to be with another person can feel it.”
“Cuatro Copas: Bohemia En La Finca Altozano” is a stunning celebration of bohemian tradition and a tribute to the romantic classics that have helped shape the soundtracks of the lives of countless people throughout Latin America and the United States. Not only does the project immortalize these beloved hits, but it also revives them for new generations of fans through La Santa Cecilia’s captivating live performances recorded during the incredible intimate gathering they held in October 2021 at La Finca Altozano, located in the beautiful Valle de Guadalupe in the state of Baja California, Mexico.
“Cuatro Copas: Bohemia En La Finca Altozano” Part 1 was released with overwhelming success, with its singles “La Diferencia,” “Debut y Despedida,” “La Copa Rota,” “Dos Botellas de Mezcal” and “El Andariego” garnering more than TWO MILLION total streams to date across digital platforms. “Cuatro Copas: Bohemia En La Finca Altozano” Part 2 is set for release soon.
