Helado Negro stopped in at the iconic Thalia Hall music venue on May 9th as part of his world tour that includes dates in North America and Europe presented by Vocalo.
The tour is in support of his recently released album, “Far In” which was finalized in October of 2021. The album is in full motion receiving rave reviews in the music industry as well as with his ever growing fan base.
Opening for Helado Negro was Slauson Malone 1. Their masterful performance was almost theatrical. With Nicholas John on cello, the two produced contemporary melodic beats accompanied by rhymes and hip hop notions. The poetic set included Jasper Marsalis on the keyboard as well as some acoustic guitar accompaniment. It was a perfect set up for the headliner to follow.
Helado Negro took the stage as a three piece opening his set with “Wake Up Tomorrow” off his latest album “Far In“. His soft tone voice addressing the full room as he discussed his times in Chicago. He was very grateful to the Pilsen Community that always receives him with love and warmth. His set was mainly focussed on the new tracks with songs like “Purple Tones” “Outside the Outside” “Thank You Forever” as well as his hits from previous albums “Running” “Pais Nublado” and ending his encore with “Ya No Estoy Aqui“. Helado Negro, with his tranquility and sense of peace, projected that essence to the audience filling Thalia Hall with a calm energy almost transporting you into a different time and space. It was truly a magical performance, leaving everyone wanting more. This show is in the midpoint of his tour dates, with California and Texas dates to follow, then off to complete the tour in Europe.
