“I started playing piano when I was six years old. Then I picked up the guitar in high school. My total opening to music was through a punk-rock group that did versions of Sum 41 and Extremoduro, among others. These were groups that marked me until high school when I opened up to things I used to hate, like reggaeton and trap. I became more open to urban music. And from there, to what I do now.” – Espineli
About Espineli
“The universe of this 20-year-old musician/producer from Madrid unites common feelings of Gen Z with cartoons, cyberpunk, and fantasy. Her songs are an escape route from misunderstanding, romanticism, and other age-related movements based on polyrhythmic pop, accelerated, euphoric, and with an unlimited fusion of styles, avoiding the orthodox and predictable. Espineli’s music is the result of mashing styles and cultures, from the dark sounds of European bands like ThxSoMch to techno, hyper-pop, and the latest generation of urban.
The best sample of teen pop that has passed its phase and is already post-everything: post-urban, post pop, cyborg pop… and that surrealism and the fantastic are more present in our daily lives than we think.”
