Christian Alexander is a cultural worker, playwright, director, theatre producer, and educator. In 2020, Christian won the John Lewis Good Trouble Playwriting Competition. His most recent play, Elastic Mind, was a critic’s pick for the Chicago Reader, where his newly established Campfire Repertory Theatre also ranked 3rd in the “Best New Theatre” in its 2022 Arts & Culture poll of readers. Christian graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a B. A. in Theatre Arts.
Christian is bringing two Broadway Bound youth theatre camps to Hamilton Park from June 27 through August 18. These immersive theatre camps serve youth ages 8-12, and teens ages 13-17. Public Studio is a funded Chicago Park District community-driven creative residency that will rotate annually among the Chicago Park District’s Cultural Centers. This residency emerged as part of the Culture in My Neighborhood (CIMN) effort, supported by the Chicago Park District, the Mayor’s Office, and Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). Additional funding comes from the Walder Foundation and Builders Initiative.
