Ana Everling presents “Ana & Edinho” at Epiphany Center for the Arts on Saturday, March 5
“Welcome into the creative world of vocalist Ana Everling and Brazilian master guitarist Edinho Gerber. Influenced by Jazz and contemporary music, they rearrange the music of the world: Balkanic folk, Portuguese fado and Brazilian bossa, while showcasing original works and inventive arrangements.
Ana Everling is a musician from the Republic of Moldova, known for her multilingual and stylistic versatility. She became part of the Chicago music scene in 2015, and added more novelty into the city’s cultural life with her dramatic Eastern European expression style. Ana’s diverse vocal work can be heard in bands like Beats y Bateria, Amada, La Peña Orchestra, and her latest project, Taraf de Chicago.
Edinho Gerber possesses a rich musical vocabulary developed in the two countries where he was raised: the United States and Brazil. Navigating effortlessly between the genres of choro, jazz, samba, and blues, he is always in search of the intersection points within his dual cultural identity. A staple in Chicago music scene for many years, Edinho has performed in prestigious venues throughout the United States, Russia, Japan, and Rio de Janeiro, performing regularly with guitarist Rogerio Souza in their celebrated collaboration Duo Violão Brasil, and released “Benjamin e Edinho” – an inventive cross-cultural collaboration with Ben Lamar Gay.”
