Alper Tuzcu’s newest single song, Espírito, dropped globally on March 3rd, by Morning View Music label. LISTEN TO ‘ESPÍRITO’ HERE.
“Espírito,” which means “spirit” in Portuguese, is a song composed by Alper Tuzcu using samba rhythms and elements of Western African rhythms on guitar.
“Espírito,” featuring Brazilian vocalist Jasmine on the vocals, was influenced by Brazilian samba and Uruguayan candombe styles. Inspired by the famous Brazilian composers Caetano Veloso and Vinicius da Moraes, the song has been mixed and mastered by a Grammy-winning team.
The song was mixed by Ricardo Mosca, known for his work with Grammy-winning artists such as ANAVITÓRIA and Jorge Drexler. Mastering was done with Carlos Freitas, who also worked with Grammy Award winners such as João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Omara Portuondo.
Alper Tuzcu is a composer, guitarist, and producer, who uses his multicultural compositions to bridge cultures and cross borders. A Latin Grammy and Grammy dual Voting Member, he has collaborated and recorded songs with Grammy-winning musicians such as Marcelo Woloski (Snarky Puppy), Ganavya (Esperanza Spalding, Residente), and Javier Limón (Paco de Lucía, Wynton Marsalis). His music has been featured on NPR, BBC Radio, RTVé, and many other media channels.
His latest EP, Raíz, was selected as one of the Top 10 EPs of 2021 by NPR affiliate the Latin Alt HD3 and his song “Afortunado” was recently released by Putumayo World Music. Alper Tuzcu is currently an Assistant Professor at the Electronic Production and Design department at Berklee College of Music.
