Renee Goust is a Mexican-American queer feminist activist and singer-songwriter who firmly believes all humans should enjoy their human rights. She has been making a living in independent music since 2019, and in this visit to Chicago, she will host a workshop at Museica to share her knowledge with us, telling us how she went from being a full-time cook in 2015 to her music having a total of over 12 million streams online in 2026.
What sets you apart from other independent musicians? Do you have a PRO? Are your songs properly copyrighted? Do you know how to legally publish a cover song? Do you feel confident naming your target listeners and marketing your music to them? Do you have a social media roll-out plan? Or do you still dread jumping on social media to promote your work? What’s in your 1-year and 5-year project plans? How much have you diversified your income stream? Are you familiar with the different types of royalties you are entitled to as an independent music creator?
Come get answers to these and many more questions on Tuesday, June 16th at Museica’s Art Studio, located at 2052 N Western Ave., Chicago, IL. RSVP’s are on a sliding scale basis, where you can pay from $15-$30 dlls or more if you so wish and can. Bring pen and paper (or a tablet or laptop) to take notes. There will be a 30 minute Q&A session to answer your specific questions.
