Chicago songwriter, musician, and composer Joe George Shadid may be best known for being a host for REVERB’s popular video channel but he also has a prolific background in writing and releasing his own music under the name Joe George. He just released his third album FOLK CINEMA digitally after celebrating the vinyl release (via Storm Chasers LTD) last week.
Under the Radar wrote this spring when announcing the new album, Shadid evokes “nostalgic, sun-dappled styles of indie and folk” and that he “brings a golden organic warmth to every element of the track.” When sharing the album’s final single, Week in Pop wrote, “Joe George’s guitar takes on a rhythmic pace, partnered with piano keys that run in step like lovers speeding to the horizon. The song strolls, then skips before gleefully sprinting like there is no tomorrow in a weary world that needs more kindness, sweetness, and light.”
While he has established his warm indie-folk sound with his two previous albums — his debut Beautiful Dreams (Eternal Sound) in 2018 and Golden Afternoon (Storm Chasers LTD) in 2022 — this time engineer Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse) helped to realize Shadid’s vision.
