ICYMI – Get to know New Delhi’s ever-evolving, genre-bending Peter Cat Recording Co., and look out for their new album, BETA, coming August 9th on Muddy Water Records.
Earlier last week, the band released “Foolmuse,” the latest single from their upcoming album. A song written by Pillai, the band’s transcultural sound is centered around the songwriting and vocals of Sawhney. The track follows the release of the epic “People Never Change” and “Suddenly” – a beautifully consoling ode to vocalist Suryakant’s mother that acts as a goodbye letter to his late father. The band is also about to embark on 77-date tour – a mix of headline dates + support dates with Khruangbin throughout the year.

Peter Cat Recording Co. is Suryakant Sawhney on vocals and guitars, Karan Singh on drums, Dhruv Bhola on bass and samples, Rohit Gupta on keys, horns and woodwind, and Kartik Pillai on guitars, horns and woodwind. Each release from the band thus far has served as a temporal snapshot, capturing the members’ evolution since their last offering, a painting of the living and the lived. With their third installment, the group’s familial landscape expanded through marriage and childbirth.
